Humanity Disappoints Me
My mom brought a new (version of the same) car home yesterday. Her lease on the old one wasn’t up until next month, but she got a good deal this month and they didn’t penalize her to turn it in early. She went to the same dealer she got the last one from. The same dealer her friend, Neighbor Lady, got hers from last week.
Turns out Mom got a better deal on her car than NL got. NL worked with Mike. Mom went in and said she didn’t want to work with Mike, so she talked to Anthony.
When Mom went in to sign her paperwork, she found out NL has been calling the dealership wanting a better deal. Mike was under the impression that he was gonna get my mom’s sale on a referral from NL, but when he found out that Anthony got it and now had NL in his ass, he accused Anthony of poaching the sale. Neither Anthony nor Mom knew anything about a referral or any kind of understanding between Mike and NL.
So far Mike’s just been juvenile, right?
Today NL mentions that she talked to Mike. In addition to generally disparaging Anthony, he said that Anthony’s not a good worker anyway because he only has one arm and is kinda slow.
Um, WHAT?! I can’t believe people still think this way. And even if people think this way, you’d think they’d know by now not to say it out loud in public. Not to mention that it’s highly unprofessional. It also happens that Anthony is the only black salesman. The dealership is in a notoriously snooty and racist suburb. That could be a coincidence. I sense a hostile work environment in the making for Anthony.
Mom talked to the sales manager yesterday, praising Anthony and expressing her concerns over Mike’s behavior. Today she’s decided that she needs to go higher up than that. I don’t know if she’s gonna talk to someone else at the dealership or go through Chrysler corporate or what.
I have to take my car in for maintenance and I was thinking about going down to that dealership so I could see who these people are. But I don’t want to give that dealership my money now. I don’t think I’ll ever go to Westborn Chrysler Jeep again.

Pigs..they’re all pigs. Car salesmen are all cut throat. They will backstab a co-worker to get a sale.
The best thing to keep in mind is to work with whomever gets you the best deal..nuff said
BTW…Valley got her Murano this past weekend. It’s as sweet as the cat’s ass!!

Only one arm and is kinda slow? LOL
I was going to make a really crass joke about not being able to test drive the manual transmission vehicles but I can tell that Anthony (when I just typed that name I first wrote “Andything” – don’t know what that means) is the hero of the story, but that’s fecking funny that she said that. Wrong (wrong!!!) but funny in an “I’m Ignorant!” kinda way.
The whole “only black salesman” in the place doesn’t sit at all well with me. I’d be tempted to get all Nubian Queen and go in with prequalified loan papers to the amount of $100,000 if I were black, loudly proclaiming that money is no issue to me and how I think that most cars are underpriced anyway. I’d really play
it up, using a Nigerian accent if I could muster it. Make them totally suck my black ass before leaving without purchasing anything.
Of course, that’s just me.

The real villain here, in my opinion, is Neighbor Lady. What a hen. Who cares if she got a slightly less fab deal on her car? But of course, she sounds like one of those nightmare people who won’t ever let anything go.
She probably spends the same amount of money she would save on the car on bags and shoes in a year. But the thought that someone got a better deal on their car, well, that’s gonna keep her up at night.
You know some people just aren’t right. Got dropped on their heads…

David, it did totally start out that way. If she had kept her damn mouth shut instead of complaining over $30/month (okay, and $2000 down), none of this would have happened. But Mike took it and ran with it, so I’m holding him at fault now.

Some people feel that it’s their God-given right to pay the least amount possible for a car, and that if someone else wangles a better deal, well, something is seriously wrong with the universe.
Usually these people can be subdued with a couple of 7.62 NATO rounds.
