MTMultiblogs and Miscellaneous Links

I wanted (a linklog / quicklinks / remaindered links / whateva). More importantly, I wanted the links inline with my blog posts, not over in the sidebar. The MultiBlog plugin did the work just like *snaps*fingers*.

The key factors in making this work:

  1. Reinstalling the plugin after the upgrade from MT 2.661. If it doesn’t show up in your plugins list, it probably won’t work right.

  2. <MTMultiBlogEntries include_blogs=”1,3″ days=”7″> That “days” argument was the critical part. I didn’t want to use “lastn” and only show a certain number of entries. It was right there amongst the MT template tags all along, I just didn’t see it before.
  3. The <MTMultiBlogIfLocalBlog> and <MTMultiBlogIfNotLocalBlog> tags made styling the different links easy, so I don’t have to do any weird category assignment/sorting. I know I didn’t do a good job styling them and they’re totally ugly right now (I am so over this color scheme), but they’re there.

Those were probably No Duh items, but sometimes you need someone to spell it out for you.

I’d rather have all the links for the day aggregated in one spot instead of showing up scattered amongst the blog posts, but I’m not gonna be overly picky. Mainly because I have no idea how to do that.

Eventually, the links will have their own blog and some sort of RSS feed.
